The ANGEL Program - Autism iNtervention and Guidance for Early Learners
In 2010, Holy Rosary School created a “school within their school” for children living with autism. Holy Rosary’s vision of including all children in classroom education, regardless of their learning ability, became The ANGEL Program. Inclusion is an effort to make sure students with disabilities go to school along with their friends and neighbors while also receiving whatever specially designed instruction and support they need to succeed as learners and to achieve high standards. The ANGEL Program is the only private school in Memphis that integrates ABA in an inclusive classroom setting for ages 3-11.
The ANGEL Program is specifically designed to offer year round, intensive instruction using innovative teaching techniques in an inclusive classroom setting. We provide the highest-quality education based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is the only scientifically proven therapy for children living with autism. Our team collects data on an ongoing basis and reassesses each child's skills regularly to monitor progress and modify teaching strategies as needed. No more than 4 students to 1 teacher are maintained throughout the entire session each day.
Autism is the fastest-growing, serious developmental disability in the United States. It has no racial, ethnic or social boundaries and there is no medical cure. Statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2014 identified around 1 in 68 American children as on the autism spectrum–a ten-fold increase in prevalence in 40 years. Studies also show that autism is four to five times more common among boys than girls. An estimated 1 out of 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States.
Helping these children in our local community is more important than ever. For more information on The ANGEL Program, please visit www.theangelprogram.com
